English Electric (BAC) Lightning F.2A/F.6 – Trumpeter 01654

The English Electric Lightning was the Royal Air Force’s (RAF) sole all-British-produced Mach 2 fighter. It was built during the 1950s, at the height of the Cold War, and its speed and striking power put it far ahead of its competition. The Lightning’s earliest version, the F1, debuted in 1959, succeeded by the modified F1A in 1961. This boxing of Trumpeter’s 1/72 kit of the BAC Lightning represents the upgraded F.2A interceptor or F.6 introduced in 1964 with a redesigned wing and great fuel capacity. The finished model has a wingspan of 14.8cm.

The LPG is honoured to announce the launch of the third Corgi diecast EE/BAC Lightning model in 1:48 scale which features their preserved Lightning F6 XS904/BQ.

The model is diecast in 1:48 scale, with interchangeable undercarriage, included stand, wingspan of 23cm and a weight of 3Kg. It was produced in association with the Lightning Preservation Group at Bruntingthorpe and represents XS904 in her current livery and configuration. This is a once in a lifetime chance to own a limited edition model of this stunning aircraft and also support her current guardians the Lightning Preservation Group.

The LPG will EXCLUSIVELY be adding

  • Card detailing XS904’s service history with list of LPG members.
  • A3 Photo montage showing XS904 in her various liveries throughout her service life.
